The Chairperson will lead the Pakistan Climate Change Authority (PCCA) under the Ministry of Climate Change & Environmental Coordination. The appointment is on contract basis initially for a period of two years, extendable for a further two years based on performance. The position is grade SPPS-I with 1 vacancy available on merit basis.

Merit-based. Open to scientists, academicians, professionals, serving or retired government servants, industrialists, agriculturists, or technocrats with at least 10 years of relevant experience. Domicile quota: Merit-based (all Pakistan).
Requirements
The candidate must be a scientist, academician, professional, serving or retired government servant, industrialist, agriculturist, or technocrat with at least 10 years of experience in climate change and environment-related fields. Ph.D / M.Phil or Master's Degree in Climate Change, Environmental Sciences, Environmental Engineering, Renewable Energy, Natural Resource Management, Economics, Environmental Laws, Finance, Management Sciences, or any other relevant discipline from an HEC recognized national or international university. Degree holders from world-class universities and candidates with highly cited research publications will be preferred. Advanced or joint degrees in finance and law will be an added advantage.
Responsibilities
Provide strategic direction, oversight, and leadership for PCCA operations. Formulate and implement national climate change strategies, policies, and regulations. Oversee climate finance mobilization, project development, and partnership building with donors and international organizations. Advise Federal and Provincial Governments on climate change mitigation, adaptation, and resilience-building measures. Ensure institutional strengthening, regulatory compliance, and inter-agency coordination.
Benefits
This position offers a salary as per SPPS-I grade of the Government of Pakistan. The selected candidate will be appointed on a 2-year contract with the possibility of extension for a further 2 years based on performance. The selection is purely merit-based with no domicile restriction, making it open to qualified candidates from across Pakistan. Being a federal level position based in Islamabad, the incumbent will have the opportunity to directly advise Federal and Provincial Governments on climate related matters and work closely with international donors and organizations.
