The National Highway Authority (NHA) has increased M-2 Motorway toll charges by 7%, with the revised tariff officially taking effect for the next year. The updated toll schedule applies to all major vehicle categories, including cars, vans, buses, trailers and agricultural machinery. The new rates have already been implemented and will remain applicable throughout the upcoming year, according to the authority.
The revised toll structure was reported by 24NewsHD TV, which stated that motorists travelling on the M-2 Motorway will now pay higher charges under the latest annual review conducted by the NHA.
New M-2 Motorway toll rates announced
Under the revised toll schedule, car owners will now pay Rs1,430 for using the M-2 Motorway. The toll fee for vans has been increased to Rs2,390, while coaster vehicles will now pay Rs3,350.
The updated rates also apply to larger passenger and commercial vehicles. Buses will now be charged Rs4,770, while large trailers will pay Rs6,210 under the revised tariff.
Officials also confirmed that the toll fee for agricultural machinery has increased to Rs7,980, making it the highest toll category under the new schedule.
Updated toll rates for different vehicles
According to the revised notification, the new toll charges are:
Cars: Rs1,430
Vans: Rs2,390
Coasters: Rs3,350
Buses: Rs4,770
Large Trailers: Rs6,210
Agricultural Machinery: Rs7,980
The National Highway Authority said these revised rates have already come into effect and will remain applicable during the coming year.
Revised per-kilometre travel cost
Along with the revised toll charges, the updated tariff has also changed the approximate cost of travelling per kilometre on the motorway.
According to the new calculations, car drivers will now pay around Rs3.98 per kilometre, while van operators will pay approximately Rs6.68 per kilometre when travelling on the M-2 Motorway.
The revised pricing reflects the updated toll schedule introduced by the authority for the next year.
What the new rates mean for motorway users
The increase is part of the National Highway Authority's annual review of motorway toll charges. The revised tariff is expected to affect thousands of daily commuters, transport companies and commercial vehicle operators who regularly travel through the M-2 Motorway corridor.
Motorists using the motorway are advised to keep the updated toll rates in mind while planning their journeys, as the new charges are already being collected at toll plazas.
The authority has confirmed that the revised toll structure will remain in force throughout the upcoming year unless further changes are announced.
