White House Trolls Taylor Swift's Wedding with Trump Post
US President Donald Trump's administration used Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's wedding to take another dig at the pop star. The couple married at Madison Square Garden in New York on Friday evening, and shortly after, the official White House account on X shared a doctored image mocking the celebration.
The image showed the exterior of the 20,000-capacity arena with a screen altered to read: "Trump is your president." The post was captioned: "It's happened!"
In reality, the venue's screens had displayed the message "JUST&T MARRIED," a reference to the couple's shared initial, shortly after the ceremony.
A statement given to NBC News by the couple's representatives said the ceremony was conducted by actor and comedian Adam Sandler, a close friend of the pair. Swift's brother, Austin Swift, served as her "Man of Honor," while Kelce's brother, Jason Kelce, was the best man. The couple's wedding outfits were made by Christian Dior Haute Couture.
This is not the first time Trump has trolled the couple. A day earlier, the White House had posted a collage of American historical images dominated by a picture of Trump, captioned "America's Eras Tour," in reference to Swift's 2023 concert tour.
Trump has held a grudge against Swift for several years. During the 2024 presidential election, Swift endorsed his Democratic opponent Kamala Harris. She wrote that she believed Harris was a "steady-handed, gifted leader" and that the country could achieve more "if we are led by calm and not chaos."
Her endorsement angered Trump, who wrote on social media: "I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!" He also warned that she would "pay a price" for the endorsement "in the marketplace."
Last year, Trump attacked Swift again on his Truth Social platform, asking whether anyone had noticed that she was "no longer hot" since he said he hated her.
During the 2018 US midterm elections, Swift had endorsed two Democratic candidates in Tennessee, her home state, saying she could no longer stay silent on political issues. At the time, Trump told reporters he "likes Taylor's music about 25 per cent less now."
