Pakistan Embraces Digital Payment Methods
Islamabad: Pakistan is witnessing a notable shift toward digital payment systems as consumers and businesses increasingly adopt modern financial technologies across the country in recent months. Pakistan’s digital payment ecosystem has been growing, with mobile wallets, QR‑enabled payments, instant transfer platforms, and online banking services seeing strong use among urban and semi‑urban users.
Mobile wallet services such as JazzCash and Easypaisa are among the most widely used platforms, enabling users to make payments, send money, and pay bills from their smartphones without carrying cash.
Pakistan’s Raast instant payment system, developed by the State Bank of Pakistan, also supports real‑time transfers between individuals, businesses, and banks, making digital finance more seamless and efficient.
Industry experts say increased smartphone penetration, better internet availability, and customer preference for convenient payment modes have helped drive this trend. Many users are shifting from cash to digital channels for routine transactions, signaling a broader move toward a more cashless economy in Pakistan.
