Ryanair Passengers Encounter Severe Midflight Turbulence
DUBLIN: Passengers aboard a Ryanair flight experienced a frightening situation midair when the aircraft encountered severe turbulence, leaving many shaken and resulting in at least one serious injury, airline officials and witnesses said.
The flight, operating between two scheduled destinations in Europe, hit unexpected and intense turbulence at cruising altitude. According to passenger accounts, the sudden jolts threw items loose inside the cabin, and some passengers were reportedly not able to fasten their seatbelts in time.
Airline sources confirmed that one passenger suffered a serious injury and was treated by crew members during the flight before the aircraft landed safely at its destination. Several other passengers sustained minor injuries from the sudden turbulence.
Crew on board promptly implemented safety protocols, including instructing all remaining passengers to take their seats and secure their belts while the flight crew coordinated with air traffic control to manage the remainder of the journey without further incident.
Medical teams and airport responders were waiting upon landing to assist the injured passenger and check on others affected by the turbulence. Authorities said that all necessary support was provided as soon as the aircraft reached the ground.
The airline has stated that turbulence can occur even when weather forecasts do not indicate severe conditions, and emphasized that passengers follow seatbelt instructions throughout the flight to minimize risk.
