Vehari Reviews Rs39.87 Billion Development Schemes Under SAP and ADP

The Punjab government has reviewed more than 305 ongoing development schemes in Vehari district under the Annual Development Programme (ADP), SAP Programme, and the “Roads Restored, Prosperous Punjab” initiative. The combined estimated value of these projects has reached nearly Rs39.87 billion.

The progress review meeting was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Vehari Khalid Javed Goraya, where officials from multiple departments shared updates regarding infrastructure, highways, schools, and public service projects currently under execution across the district.

Infrastructure Projects Remain Key Focus

Officials informed the meeting that several projects are aimed at improving roads, transportation links, drainage systems, and public facilities. Executive Engineer Highways Rana Umair Latif also briefed participants on progress related to the Dust-Free Project and updates surrounding the Multan-Delhi Road construction work.

Authorities stressed the need for timely completion, especially on projects affecting daily traffic and public mobility. In many cases, delayed infrastructure work increases transport costs for ordinary families. A damaged road can affect everything from school transport to fuel expenses, much like a leaking roof slowly increasing repair costs over time.

Education Sector Schemes Also Underway

CEO Education Vehari Nasir Aziz shared updates regarding ongoing education-related development schemes. These projects focus on improving school buildings, classroom facilities, and learning environments in different parts of the district.

From experience, one common mistake people make is assuming development schemes only involve roads and bridges. In reality, education infrastructure often plays a longer-term role in improving economic conditions and creating better opportunities for local communities.

Authorities Push for Faster Completion

During the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Khalid Javed Goraya instructed departments to speed up ongoing projects while ensuring safety standards at development sites. Officials were directed to install proper protective walls and take preventive measures to avoid accidents around active construction areas.

The district administration believes these projects could improve transport, public services, and educational facilities if completed within the targeted timelines. The emphasis now remains on implementation speed and transparent utilisation of public funds.
