Editorial Policy

The standards Pehle Pakistan follows for accuracy, fairness, independence, sourcing, corrections, and responsible journalism.

Introduction and Core Mission

At Pehle Pakistan, our primary mission is to deliver accurate, timely, and impactful news to our audience.

We are committed to upholding the highest standards of digital journalism, grounded in truth, transparency, and the public interest. This editorial policy outlines the ethical framework that guides our reporters, editors, and contributors in their daily operations.

Accuracy and Fact-Checking

Verification: All editorial content must be rigorously fact-checked prior to publication. We rely on primary sources, official documents, and verified accounts to substantiate our reporting.

Rumors and speculation: We do not publish unsubstantiated rumors. When reporting on unfolding events where facts are unclear, we explicitly state what is known and what remains unverified.

Headline integrity: Headlines, thumbnails, and social media captions must accurately reflect the content of the article or video. We strictly prohibit clickbait or misleading framing.

Impartiality and Fairness

Objective reporting: Our news reports are impartial and free from personal bias. We strive to present all sides of a story, particularly in matters of public controversy or political debate.

Distinguishing fact from opinion: Analysis, op-eds, and sports commentary must be clearly labeled as such. Opinion pieces reflect the views of the author and do not necessarily represent the institutional stance of Pehle Pakistan.

Right of reply: Individuals or organizations facing significant criticism or allegations in our reporting will be given a fair opportunity to respond prior to publication.

Independence and Conflict of Interest

Editorial independence: Our editorial decisions are made independently of commercial, political, or personal interests. Advertisers, sponsors, and partners have no influence over our news coverage.

Declaring conflicts: Journalists and contributors must disclose any financial, personal, or political affiliations that could pose a conflict of interest regarding the subjects they cover.

Gifts and hospitality: Our staff may not accept gifts, favors, or undisclosed travel from news sources that could compromise, or appear to compromise, their journalistic objectivity.

Sourcing and Attribution

On-the-record sourcing: We strongly prefer on-the-record sources.

Anonymous sources: The use of anonymous sources is permitted only when the information is of high public interest, cannot be obtained otherwise, and the source may face physical, financial, or legal retaliation. The motive of the anonymous source must be vetted by the editorial board.

Plagiarism and copyright: Pehle Pakistan has a zero-tolerance policy for plagiarism. We respect copyright laws and provide clear, visible attribution for text, images, and video clips sourced from other agencies or creators.

Privacy, Decency, and Harm Minimization

Respect for privacy: We respect the privacy of individuals, particularly ordinary citizens who are not public figures. Private grief and trauma must be handled with compassion and sensitivity.

Minimizing harm: We exercise careful editorial judgment when reporting on sensitive topics such as violence, self-harm, or crimes against minors. Graphic imagery will be used sparingly, accompanied by appropriate content warnings, and only when necessary for the public's understanding of the event.

Corrections and Updates

Transparency in errors: Pehle Pakistan is committed to correcting errors of fact promptly and transparently.

Correction protocol: When a significant error is identified, the article will be updated, and a clear "Correction" or "Update" note will be appended at the top or bottom of the piece, explaining what was changed and when.

Post-publication takedowns: We do not unpublish or "stealth edit" articles to hide mistakes. Takedown requests are only honored in extreme circumstances, such as legal mandates or severe breaches of personal safety.

Digital and Social Media Conduct

Professional behavior: Our journalists' conduct on social media must not undermine the credibility or perceived impartiality of Pehle Pakistan.

User-generated content: Content submitted by the public, including videos and photos, must be independently authenticated before being broadcast or published on our platforms.

Policy review: This policy is a living document and will be periodically reviewed and updated by the management and editorial board to adapt to the evolving digital media landscape and regulatory frameworks.
