
EU Top Diplomat Kaja Kallas to Visit Islamabad for High-Level Strategic Talks on June 1
European Union’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Vice-President of the European Commission, Kaja Kallas, will visit Islamabad on June 1 for important bilateral meetings and to co-chair the 8th round of the EU-Pakistan Strategic Dialogue.
High-Level Preparations for Strategic Dialogue
The visit reflects the growing importance of relations between the European Union and Pakistan. The upcoming 8th EU-Pakistan Strategic Dialogue will serve as a key platform for both sides to strengthen cooperation.
The dialogue will be co-chaired by Kaja Kallas and Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar. The meeting will focus on reviewing cooperation in multiple sectors and discussing future strategic direction.
Review of Relations and Strategic Framework
According to the European Union, the discussions will take place under the Strategic Engagement Plan signed in June 2019. This framework aims to strengthen cooperation between Pakistan and the EU in political, economic, security, and development areas.
The Strategic Dialogue is considered the highest-level engagement platform between both sides, allowing detailed discussions on regional and global issues of mutual interest.
Key Meetings and Press Conference
During her visit, Kaja Kallas will meet President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Field Marshal Asim Munir.
She will also engage with representatives from think tanks and academic institutions to strengthen collaboration with policymakers, researchers, and civil society stakeholders.
A joint press conference will be held in Islamabad after the talks, where official media updates will be shared with the public.

Pakistan and the European Union continue to maintain strong cooperation in trade, development, climate change, migration, and regional stability.
