AJK Requests Urgent Federal Security Reinforcements

MIRPUR: Authorities in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) have written to the federal government requesting urgent security reinforcements, citing concerns over potential unrest and law‑and‑order challenges, officials said.

The letter to Islamabad was submitted amid heightened tensions in the region, where local administrators expressed fears that current security arrangements may not be sufficient to prevent disturbances. AJK officials have asked for additional deployment of security personnel to reinforce peace and protect public safety.

According to the communication, maintaining stability and preventing any law‑and‑order situation is a priority, and the strengthened presence of federal forces would help deter possible trouble, sources added.

Officials in AJK emphasized that the request aims to ensure calm and reassure citizens, particularly in vulnerable areas where tensions might escalate without adequate security coverage.

The federal government is expected to review the request and decide on the deployment and extent of reinforcements needed, based on consultations with relevant security agencies and AJK authorities.
