After Android, WhatsApp Rolls Out Green Dot Feature for iOS Users
WhatsApp has started testing a new green dot online indicator for iOS users, following a similar test that began on Android last month. The development was reported by WABetaInfo, which spotted the feature in WhatsApp beta version 26.26.10.72 for iOS.
According to the report, beta users on iOS who have the latest version installed will now see a small green circle at the bottom-right of a contact's photo on the "Contact info" screen. This dot appears only when the contact is currently online.
The indicator works in real-time, meaning the green circle disappears as soon as the contact goes offline. For now, the "Contact info" screen is the only place where this indicator is visible.
WhatsApp has applied the same privacy settings to the green dot as it does to the last seen and online status features. This means if a user has hidden their last seen and online status, the green dot will also stay hidden for them.
The green dot feature is currently available only to a limited number of beta users on both Android and iOS. It is not yet clear when WhatsApp will roll out this feature publicly for all users.
