Young Patient Dies at Islamabad Mental Health Centre, Torture Alleged
ISLAMABAD: A young patient died at a mental health centre in Islamabad, with his father alleging that his son was tortured at the facility. The father has submitted an application seeking registration of a First Information Report (FIR) at the Shahzad Town police station.
According to the application, marks of alleged torture were found on the patient’s body. The father also claimed that staff members left the premises following the incident.
The father stated that his son was admitted to the centre in June. However, he alleged that the facility’s administration did not allow him to meet his son for an entire month.
He said the centre informed him on July 9 that his son had been diagnosed with dengue. When he reached the facility, he discovered that his son had already died, according to the application.
The father further alleged that the centre’s owner, Dr Hamza, was also missing from the facility.
